 NEWS

June 07th, 2008: Bruce Willis steps forward to play Kane
One of the latest video games to get the movie treatment is the third-person shooter Kane & Lynch : Dead Men, which despite selling well last year was poorly received by reviewers.

Nevertheless, that hasn’t fazed the ruggedly mature Mr.Bruce Willis from stepping forward to put his name in the hat for the role of Adam 'Kane' Marcus, a mercenary who teams up with schizophrenic killer James Lynch as they embark on a violent and chaotic journey.

Making his full film directing debut will be Simon Crane, who recently worked alongside the director on the sci-fiction movie Jumper.

An actor to play Lynch’s character has yet to be cast.

The director has plenty of time to wave his magic wand and make the movie far better than the game though; Kane & Lynch isn't due for release until 2010. [Source]

June 04th, 2008: Bruce Willis Negotiating Starring Role in Kane & Lynch Film
Bruce Willis (Die Hard, The Sixth Sense) is negotiating a deal that would see him playing the role of Adam "Kane" Marcus opposite an undetermined Lynch in the upcoming film based on Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, reports Variety.

The film, directed by Mr. & Mrs. Smith Second Unit Director Simon Crane and produced by the same people responsible for the Hitman game-to-film adaptation, is still in the very early stages and lacks a firm release date.

Videogame films are almost always laughable, but Willis fits the Kane look, and the man can certainly do gritty action. Let's just hope they make this film as violent and brutal as the game instead of opting for the more lucrative PG-13 rating. [Source]

June 04th, 2008: Bruce Willis to film action scene in Hopedale
If anyone can bring high-wire action to the Draper mill complex, it's probably actor Bruce Willis.

Scenes for Willis' new movie, "The Surrogates," a sci-fi thriller, will be filmed at the mill later this month, town officials and the production company have confirmed. The movie has been shooting around the state since April.

A set is being constructed behind the mill's Hopedale Street wing this week, and there are also several used Boston Police cruisers on site. People are not disclosing exactly when filming will begin, but Town Coordinator Eugene N. Phillips said it will be the second half of this month.

Bruce Willis, whose credits include the "Die Hard" action series, "Pulp Fiction" and "12 Monkeys," will be on the set, said the movie's publicist, Ernie Malik. Malik added that an action scene will be filmed at the mill.

"It worked visually for what we need to shoot this, which is a big action scene - a helicopter chasing a motorcycle, and then the aftermath," he said about why the mill was chosen.

Town officials will host a meeting June 12 at 7 p.m. in the high school to update people about the production and answer questions.

May 26th, 2008: Bruce Willis shoots sci-fi movie in Worcester
Bruce Willis is in Worcester shooting his new movie, “The Surrogates.”

The set is closed to the public, but Ernie Malik, a spokesperson for the film, says Willis plays an FBI agent in the future, at a time when most people live through a robotic clone.

Malik says people, who work at the courthouse, wouldn't recognize it as a set.

With new state tax breaks boosting the movie business...it might be the beginning of Hollywood in Worcester. [Source]

May 19th, 2008: Bruce Willis May Lead The A-Team
It seems like we’ve been talking about the A-Team movie for years now (and in some ways we have), and yet the thing still doesn’t seem to have a cast. We do know who won’t be in it though: Anyone who was in the original cast. The surviving members of the real A-Team have all nixed the idea of doing cameos and director John Singleton doesn’t seem to be willing to use them for anything more than that.

Now though LatinoReview says they may know who Singleton is looking at to play Hannibal. On the original show, the character of Col. John “Hannibal” Smith, de facto leader of the group, was played by the late, great, George Peppard. For the movie, their rumor is that Singleton may be courting Bruce Willis.

No way to know if this is true, for now it’s just a wild rumor, but as an aging A-Team fan I love it. I’m not exactly high on the idea of an A-Team movie with replacement actors, but if they have to make it, then I can’t imagine anyone more perfect for the part of cigar-chewing Hannibal than cigar-chewing Willis. More on this rumor as it develops. [Source]

May 19th, 2008: Willis and Ford top film poll
Bruce Willis and Harrison Ford have tied in top spot in a filmwebsite poll to find the greatest action heroes.

Users of parlanddean.com people felt that Willis set the standard with his role as John McClane in Die Hard, a part he has played four times.

Ford is best known as archaeologist Indiana Jones, a role he too has played four times. Third place was taken by Last Action Hero star Arnold Schwarzenegger, with 15% of the vote. [Source]

May 03rd, 2008: Bruce Willis in love with lingerie model
Bruce Willis is certainly love-struck, as he could not stop gazing at the latest love of his life, lingerie model Emma Heming. The couple attended the 7th annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, and it was quite evident that the sparks were flying from both the sides.

The 29-year-old model was not the latest young thing in tinsel town to fall for the Die Hard star, but even Willis has openly declared that he is crazy about her. The 52-year-old star was attending the premiere of his 19-year-old daughter Rumer's latest movie. "Rumer has been building up her career from cameos in her parent"s films to meatier roles and she clearly wanted to dress to impress on her big night," The Sun quoted a source, as saying. [Source]

April 28th, 2008: Bruce Willis tipped for role in Schu film
American actor Bruce Willis is tipped to play legendary F1 commentator Murray Walker in the Hollywood adaptation of Michael Schumacher's life story.

The British tabloid Daily Star said 53-year-old Willis - famous for starring in Die Hard, Pulp Fiction and The Sixth Sense - would make a "very convincing Walker if he put on a pair of specs".

84-year-old Walker, who semi-retired in 2001, was among Schumacher's biggest admirers, covering from the commentary booth the German's rise to Formula One in 1991 through four of his record seven titles.

"Bruce Willis would certainly do Murray justice," Schumacher's agent, Willi Weber, confirmed. [Source]

April 28th, 2008: Willis to play Murray Walker in F1 biopic?
Bruce Willis is allegedly in line to play Formula One commentator Murray Walker in the upcoming biopic of Michael Schumacher.

Walker commentated on F1 for more than 50 years and became renowned for making ridiculous on-air comments that were dubbed "Walkerisms". He once famously remarked: "With half the race gone, there is half the race still to go."

Willis has reportedly been earmarked for the Walker role by producers of The Michael Schumacher Story.

Schumacher's agent Willi Weber is quoted as saying: "Bruce Willis would certainly do Murray justice."

Walker, 84, admitted he was "shell-shocked" on hearing that Willis might play him on film.

"I had to make sure when looking at the calendar that it was April 25 not April 1," he said. "I always regarded Bruce Willis as a mirror image of myself, don't you know... a much younger version though." [Source]
